Diego, a private, nonprofit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to

Ex Drinks were dispersed to four branches of the US Armed Forces (Navy,
Army, Marines and Coast Guard) through multiple donations to USO San Diego,
including product deployments to Camp Pendleton, Naval Base San Diego, Admiral
Baker Golf Course, USO San Diego Downtown headquarters and the San Diego
Airport USO transition center. Whether
traveling to/from deployment or boot camp, participating in an exercise or

hydration to the men and women of the US military and those that support them.

2011 TEAM EX DRINKS ANNOUNCED
Ex Drinks, LLC Adds Pro Skateboarder Andy Macdonald to
its Team of Athletes

drinks recently announced the signing of Andy Macdonald to its 2011
professional team of athletes. Andy Macdonald is one of skateboarding’s best
ambassadors and most skilled professionals, known to millions all over the
world as Andy Mac. He has competed in every Summer X Games since its inception
in 1995 and owns 21 medals - more than any other skater in history. He has won Asian X Games four
times and has been the runner up on the overall Dew Tour Standings for the last
three consecutive years. Macdonald has been crowned as skateboarding’s World
Champion eight years in a row in the World Cup Skateboard Series. Macdonald is
on the Board of Directors for Grind for Life, a charity that raises money to
help people dealing with cancer. He started Grind for Life’s annual “Clash at
Clairemont” fundraising event which features some of the top athletes in action
sports. Macdonald also recently began working with the Level Field Fund which
raises money to bridge the gap for underfunded athletes.

Macdonald will be joining an
all-star lineup of athletes returning for another year with Ex Drinks including
big wave surfers Shane Desmond and Kohl Christensen, progressive surfer Zoltan
Torkos, downhill gravity mountain bikers Mitch Ropelato and Christian Wright. Ex
Drinks has also added young skateboarding phenom Colby Franz to its 2011

Shane Desmond, AKA Dezy, has been riding giant waves around the world and at his home
surf break Mavericks for decades. Desmond captured 2nd place at
Mavericks in 2010 in what was called the largest, most intense paddle-wave
surfing competition ever held to that time. Additionally, Desmond has amassed
surfing honors such as a 2005 Billabong XXL award for biggest paddle-in wave,
2005 5th place at Mavericks, 2008 3rd place at Nelscott
Reef and 2010 6th place ranking on the Big Wave World Tour.
Kohl Christensen has been surfing big waves around the world for nearly two decades. His
recent accomplishments include winning 1st place at the 2010
Nelscott Reef contest, landing him an overall 2nd place finish on
the 2010 Big Wave World Tour, and becoming an invitee to the prestigious
invitational surf contest and celebration “The Eddie” at Waimea Bay.
Zoltan “The Magician” Torkos, a local Santa Cruz surfer, comes from a long line of magicians. Torkos
possesses an uncanny ability to perform magic tricks on land and in the water.
Torkos lived up to his name this past year when he became the first documented
surfer to perform a kickflip on a surfboard, and claimed the top prize in
Volcom Stone’s elusive Kick Flip Off contest. Torkos continues his quest to
revolutionize surfing with his progressive style and raise awareness for
troubled youth. Torkos named his surfing kickflip the “Reimer Flip” after his
friend Carl Reimer was randomly gunned down outside his home.
Mitch Ropelato is a professional gravity mountain bike rider that exploded onto the
scene when he transitioned from riding BMX in 2007. In addition to countless
pump track victories, Ropelato’s results include a 2009 2nd place at the
Bromont World Cup 4x, dual 2009 National Championship Titles for Junior X
Downhill and Pro 4x, 2011 Nevada State Championship titles in downhill and chainless,
and a recent 4th place finish in the 2011 Pan-Am Games, which
qualifies Ropelato for a complete international UCI circuit as an individual
rider.
Christian Wright is a decorated gravity mountain bike rider returning to the downhill
scene following a devastating injury last July that left him in a Swiss
hospital for weeks after being air lifted from the world championship downhill
course in Champery, Switzerland. Wright is back and looking better than ever in
early 2011, already amassing four top 5 finishes including 3rd place
at the Port Angeles Pro GRT. With a full national schedule culminating at the
world championships in Champery, National Championships in North Carolina and
Collegiate Championships in West Virginia, Wright is poised for a banner season
as one of the leading junior riders transitioning into the pro circuit. Wright
is also an avid slope style rider and dirt jumper.
Colby Franz started skateboarding at
the tender age of six. At age eight, Colby met skating legend Omar Hassan and
shot a YouTube video. Now age eleven, Franz is one of skateboarding’s hottest
up and coming riders. Lining up appearances at top tier events such as the
Maloof Money Cup and Coastal Carnage, Franz has been dominating local
competitions and Pro-AMs while undertaking photo shoots and national media
campaigns. Franz is poised to become a top contender in professional
skateboarding.

TEAM EX DRINKS SURFER ZOLTAN “THE MAGICIAN” TORKOS LANDS FIRST-EVER
KICKFLIP ON A SURFBOARD 
March 8, 2011 (Henderson, NV) - On Friday, March 4, Team Ex Drinks Surfer Zoltan
Torkos paddled out at his local Santa Cruz surf break Steamer Lane. Torkos, 29
of Santa Cruz, CA, is known simply as “The Magician.” Coming from a long line
of magicians, Zoltan possesses an uncanny ability to perform magic tricks on
land and in the water. Torkos lived up to his name this past Friday when he
became the first documented surfer to perform a kickflip on a surfboard.
The kickflip was originally a skateboard trick invented by freestyle
skateboard legend Rodney Mullen in 1983. Originally called the “Magic Flip,” the
kickflip has become a defining move of modern skateboarding. It was the kickflip that revolutionized
skateboarding by opening the doors to new creative tricks and outbursts. We will have to wait and see just what
effect the kickflip will have on surfing.
Torkos has resigned with Team Ex Drinks in 2011. His other sponsors
include SurfCo, Hawaii. Torkos was riding a Vernor surfboard when he

person to capture a video of a proper kickflip being performed on a surfboard. Despite
many attempts and submissions, the contest and the elusive trick remained
unclaimed. Following his successful kickflip this past Friday, Torkos has
submitted his film clip into the Volcom Stone contest and is waiting to hear
